When you shift gears you feel a slight pause, then hear a clunk. It may sound like it is coming from the front or rear of the car. This problem will likely gradually get worse.
If you begin having trouble shifting gears or operating your clutch, it is usually an indication that a clutch component or internal transmission part is worn or damaged.
In this situation, the clutch pedal and gearshift work normally. But when you move the gear shift into gear and release the clutch, a grinding noise is heard and a vibration can be felt through the gearshift.
When you press on or let off the gas pedal, the gearshift jumps into the neutral position, leaving the transmission out of gear. This problem becomes more frequent over time.
